International Legal Counsel

Description
We are looking for an International Legal Counsel to support a fintech/payments business with day-to-day commercial work, multi-jurisdiction projects, and regulatory-adjacent matters (PSD2 / AML / schemes). You’ll work closely with commercial, product, compliance, and operations teams and lead key negotiations end-to-end.
Responsibilities:
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating payments-focused commercial agreements: acquiring/processing, merchant services, partnerships, vendor/IT, and related addenda (fees, SLAs, statements of work, order forms)
- Supporting day-to-day legal needs across the business: IP/licensing, employment/contractor matters, general commercial and corporate support
- Providing practical guidance on payments frameworks: Visa/Mastercard rules (working level), PSD2, AML/CTF - mainly as they impact contracts, onboarding, and operational flows
- Legal research and due diligence across multiple jurisdictions; support for projects such as M&A, group structuring, audits, and partner/merchant onboarding
- Improving legal templates and processes: maintaining contract playbooks, standard positions, and risk/approval workflows
Requirements:
- At least an upper-intermediate level of English
- Experience working in crypto, AI, or payment companies is a plus
- Law degree from a reputable university
- Advanced English (drafting and negotiations)
- 3+ years of relevant experience (fintech/PSP, banking, IT/tech, or international law firm)
- Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills; comfortable owning deals and pushing them to signature
- Basic understanding of Visa/Mastercard rules, PSD2, AML/CTF, and how they translate into commercial terms
